Filopur
Today I want to blog about Filopur, a water filtration system I got for my kitchen tap a year ago from Buxco. It’s real easy to use and the water that comes from it tastes fresh and sweet.
And I thought all tap water tasted the same. Boy was I wrong.
Not that I don’t have faith in the SG water purification process, but the accumulation of rust, metal leaks and bacteria in the water pipes worries me. Not to mention the levels of chlorine in the water.
“…Water is called the universal solvent because so many substances dissolve in it. Water also can carry many materials in suspension. The water that dissolves your tea or coffee might also have dissolved some atoms of lead from the pipes or may have picked up a microgram of 2,4-dicholorophenoxy acetic acid (a herbicide) from the farm upstream the filtration plant. If your water is chlorinated it most certainly contains a few micrograms of chloroform, a by-product of the disinfection process.”
In short water can be contaminated at any point as it travels from PUB plants to our taps. I remember vividly those simple white cloth filters we used to place over tap heads, secured by a simple rubber band. They turn brown so quickly, showing the dirt trapped in the water. What about the even smaller particles that don’t get filtered off by the cloth?
Recently I’ve begun “tapao-ing” water from home when I go to work. About 1.2litres coz that’s the size of my water bottle. I think the tap water from my office boiler dispenser is not very “clean” because so many fall ill so frequently, including myself. It has to be either the air or the water that’s weakening our immune system. Although I have filtered water at home, I spent most of my waking (and drinking) hours in the office so I’m not really reaping the benefits of pure H2O. I do hope to see an improvement in my health with this practice.
I think the quality of water we drink is very important in maintaining good health.
…Filopur removes chemical and bacteriological impurities as well as unpleasant flavors and smells & considerably reduces concentrations of substances such as pesticides, heavy metals & chlorine. Filopur is also able to remove dyes and turbidities, lime and rust particles as well as suspended micro particles well below 1/1000 of a millimeter – without removing natural salts and minerals in the water…”
Mum drank some of my filtered water 2 days ago, and commented how sweet and fresh it tasted. Different from the hard and stale taste usually associated with our regular tap water.

Filopur allows the user to switch between tap water and filtered water easily. So I use tap water to do my cleaning, reserving the filter only for water that I drink or cook in.
My only grouse with Filopur – the water flow from it is slow. But then again, the convenience of getting pure water from the kitchen tap makes the wait worthwhile.

I think drinking filtered water helps somehow. Been using OSIM’s water purifier for tap water and drinking distilled water for more than 3 yrs now and my complexion sort of improved! It gets worse when I return to sg.
DR >> some people may say that we’re being paranoid and that SG water is clean enough. But testimonies of improvements in health (in your case complexion) are too coincidental to write off.
I have not tried distilled yet but if it helps in getting a better complexion i am for it. Thing is, I am just worried after being so accustomed to drinking such pure stuff, we would not be able to take the bottled water during our visits overseas.
Msfairface >> I think bottled water is clean. My mum has been using filtered water for a few years now and she has no problems during travels. Plus hers is alkaline filtered water.
Hi, how much did it cost?
I can’t really recall. But you can give Buxco a tinkle to find out.
